Dr. Alejandra Arroyo
Hello! I am Dr. Alejandra Arroyo, an internist.
My interest in the immune system began during medical school when I discovered immunology in a fourth-year course. From then on, I knew I wanted to dedicate myself to understanding these complex diseases that often require an integral approach, and what better way to start this journey than with Internal Medicine, the foundation and central axis of all medicine.
I specialized in Internal Medicine at the University of Costa Rica and practiced for a time in a rural area as a specialist. After completing that stage, I returned to the postgraduate system to begin the subspecialty in Clinical Immunology.
I will soon undertake an international fellowship that will allow me to strengthen my training in the approach to patients who require a deeper and more personalized evaluation.
I dedicate myself to the comprehensive care of people with immune system diseases —whether autoimmunity, immunodeficiencies, unexplained fever, or complex syndromes— combining the fundamentals of Internal Medicine with a detailed approach that seeks to detect that small error in the system that changes everything.
Outside of medicine, I enjoy reading, movies, board games, nature, and a good cup of coffee.
I believe in medicine based on knowledge, but also in empathy, listening, and commitment.
